The Federal Cabinet has presented a draft bill to ensure public participation in approval and authorization procedures even during the coronavirus pandemic. The draft law dates from April 30, 2020 and is to be passed by the Bundestag next week. It primarily regulates public participation during the pandemic and will initially apply for a limited period until March 31, 2021, but can be extended at any time. The German Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union (DNR) and the Independent Institute for Environmental Issues (UfU) have issued a joint statement.
