The project aims to engage urban communities in Berlin, Vienna, Kosice and Ankara in adapting to the climate and biodiversity crisis through nature-based solutions (NBS). By raising awareness, demonstrating, educating and training about NBS, and promoting participation, citizens and local civil society will be empowered to collaboratively implement small-scale NBS. Thereby, they co-shape urban areas in a sustainable manner and create community-driven models that can be replicated across different urban areas in Europe.
The project will first identify stakeholders, conduct surveys on their needs, and promote knowledge exchange between project partners. Guided tours and seminars will educate citizens about NBS as the project progresses, while tutorials and DIY guides will encourage replication. Practical workshops on small-scale NBS will be combined with the joint creation of exhibitions and recommendations for local authorities thereby strengthening civic engagement in planning. Videos, webinars, tutorials, and a project website will ensure that the results are visible beyond the project’s scope. In this way, sustainable partnerships and efforts to adapt to climate change and enhance biodiversity will be promoted throughout Europe.
