e-fit: Lifelong professional qualification in the future field of renewable energies
“Times are good for renewable energies”, wrote the Tagesspiegel back in 2009, referring to new professions in this growing sector. However, at that time there were only a few didactic materials available to give young people an insight into the field of renewable energies. This is where the research project “e-fit: Lifelong professional qualification in the future field of renewable energies” (2009-2012) came in, including the development of an online course on career orientation in renewable energy and five other courses on solar energy, wind energy, hydropower, bioenergy and geothermal energy, which have been available to use free of charge on our MOODLE platform since the end of the project. The main career orientation course is designed to provide learners with an overview of careers in the field of renewable energy in a short space of time, but also allows them to delve deeper into the topic of renewable energy. The course includes a brief introduction to the importance of renewable energies, an overview of training opportunities in this field and – in five sub-courses – basic knowledge of renewable energy sources. In addition to learning texts, films, experiments, interactive tasks, online games and further web links are integrated into the course as media. At the heart of the course is the “EE job generator”. This is a project work integrated into the course. Learners are given the task of selecting a traditional dual training occupation and researching the field of renewable energies for this.
