In our project ‘Gesundheitsgeister’ (Health Spirits), we are developing a mobile learning station tour for primary school children in Berlin. This tour uses playful, movement-oriented, realistic and interactive methods to demonstrate how closely our (human) health is linked to the health of ecosystems. The tour consists of several transportable, flexible stations that can be used by educators during walks through nearby green spaces or urban natural areas. It can be adapted to the age, group size, time budget and local conditions. Children learn that ecosystems are not annoying pests (or ‘Plagegeister’) but, when healthy, act as useful and important planetary health spirits (‘Gesundheitsgeister’) for humans.

The project is divided into four phases:

Phase 1: Project launch & establishment of cooperation (January – February 2026)

Objectives: Definition of partner roles, coordination of content, planning of implementation
Activities: I.a. discussions with partners from Berlin’s environmental education sector, development of the didactic concept, selection of locations for the subsequent test phase

Phase 2: Development of a prototype (March–June 2026)

Objectives: Content development and design of the stations in a first version (prototype)
Activities: Creation of thematic stations and handouts, workshop with employees from (environmental) education centres and schools, among other things

Phase 3: Pilot phase & evaluation (July–September 2026)

Objective: Real-life testing of the tour by professionals and school classes
Activities: implementation of the tour in the participating educational institutions

Phase 4: Finalisation & dissemination (November-December 2026)

Objectives: Revision of content materials, provision of the final version, consolidation
Activities: I.a. production of the complete sets, development of a simple leasing system, promotion & dissemination
