In our new podcast series “[Insert solutions here]. Climate meets Democracy”<\/strong> we talk about ideas and solutions that, on the one hand, actively address the climate crisis and, on the other hand, promote democratic principles. Guests from science and practice share their knowledge and experiences from around the world with us.<\/p>\n

Friends of the Earth Germany (BUND) and the Independent Institute for Environmental Issues (UfU e.V.) launch this new podcast as part of the project “Strengthening civil society in the implementation of national climate policy”<\/a>, funded by the International Climate Initiative (IKI). The initiative is promoted by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) on the basis of a resolution of the German Federal Parliament.<\/p>\n

The project Strengthening civil society in the development and implementation of national climate policies (ZIVIKLI)<\/a>\u00a0is a six-year international project funded by the International Climate Initiative<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In close cooperation with the partner organisations, main objectives of the project are to analyses the participation opportunities for civil society and to strengthen the climate policy work of local civil society actors. The project includes the countries of Georgia, Colombia, Ukraine, Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Kazakhstan and the Republic of Moldova.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=”214562″]The moderator:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The moderator for this podcast is Andrea-Vicky Amankwaa-Birago, a multi-talented individual with a passion for promoting social justice and equality.<\/p>\n

As a cultural scientist, she enjoys her work as a curator, moderator, facilitator, trainer, and consultant in the fields of climate justice, museum management, and diversity-oriented organizations. With almost two decades of experience, Andrea-Vicky has collaborated with both governmental and non-governmental organizations, specializing in international exchange programs in the field of development education.<\/p>\n

Andrea-Vicky’s life motto is: “It’s never too late to change direction if it’s for a good cause.” Currently, she is pursuing her doctoral studies and is affiliated with the Anthropology department at the University of Bayreuth, where she is an integral part of the team “Anthropology of global inequalities”.\u00a0\u00a0In addition to her academic pursuits, Andrea-Vicky is actively involved in various organizations, including the Kuratorium Barazani Berlin and the transnational knowledge network Anton Wilhelm Amo alliance based in Berlin Global Village.
