While there is still a heated debate in Germany about blending biofuels with conventional fuels, Brazil is already using bioethanol and biodiesel on a large scale to ensure its mobility. This study examines the ecological, economic and social effects of the cultivation and use of energy crops in Brazil, as well as the resulting discussions and acceptance among the Brazilian public. Despite the ongoing debate about the advantages and disadvantages of energy crop cultivation, it is currently clear that the Brazilian government will continue to promote \u201cfuel from the field\u201d. It is difficult to predict to what extent the social goals can be achieved in the future and the negative effects on the environment and nature can be limited by appropriate laws and voluntary commitments.
