As a result of the strong economic and population growth, both the demand for energy and food in Vietnam is constantly increasing. Conflicts of use are inevitable. The project “Feasibility study of energy crops on contaminated sites in Vietnam” aims to investigate the potential of growing renewable raw materials on currently unused, underused or misused land in Vietnam. For example, dioxin-contaminated and industrially used areas, mining wastelands and landfills will be examined in more detail. In addition to workshops, the data will be obtained through the evaluation of official government sources, surveys, the evaluation of studies, etc. The feasibility study includes assessments of climate protection aspects as well as yield opportunities from energy crop cultivation and the suitability of various plant species for the development of energy crop cultivation on contaminated sites. The results are presented in text form (study) and in a geographical information system. If the cultivation of energy crops on contaminated sites is worthwhile, a pilot project starting in 2015 will show how such cultivation can be implemented in Vietnam.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column column_width_percent=”100″ overlay_alpha=”50″ gutter_size=”3″ medium_width=”0″ shift_x=”0″ shift_y=”0″ z_index=”0″ width=”1/3″][vc_column_text el_class=”ufu-projekt”]Runtime
10/2013-12/2014

Cooperation partner
MSP Bochum

Supported by
Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU)

as part of the International Climate Initiative (IKI)

Contact us
Fabian Stolpe[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Vietnam is one of the most densely populated countries in the world (270pp/km²) with around 90 million inhabitants in an area of only 331,221 km².
