Germany has achieved its climate targets for 2020 after all. Thanks to Corona. However, it is now clear that the targets for 2020 were not ambitious enough. The EU has already taken action. CO2 emissions are now set to fall by 55 percent across Europe by 2030. But what does this mean for Germany? What new targets need to be enshrined in the Climate Protection Act? And what does this mean for the individual sectors? How do we approach the sectors that are not making a contribution despite the overall reduction inCO2 emissions, such as the building and transport sectors? And how do you cushion social imbalances? Is the necessaryCO2 reduction even achievable in such a short time (2030 = 55%) – also in view of the experience with corona? Can we still maintain the 1.5 degree target or the 2 degree target of the Paris Agreement?

We want to discuss these and other questions with high-ranking climate experts in a new compact discussion format from UfU. Klaus Mindrup helped negotiate the Climate Protection Act for the SPD and is considered one of the brightest minds in Berlin when it comes to climate protection. Prof. Dr. Dr. Schellnhuber is probably the world’s best-known German climate researcher. Now that he has somewhat withdrawn from day-to-day business, his focus on the requirements of climate protection is all the clearer. Petra Pinzler, one of the female journalists in Germany who has taken responsibility for this topic like no other, will moderate the event.

If you have any questions in advance, please send them to us? We cannot guarantee that all questions can be asked in the 90 minutes. However, we will endeavor to address as many questions as possible.
