Online event on the digitalization of formal public participation

How can established participation formats be transferred to the digital space? What needs to be considered when implementing digital formats? And how can the new possibilities be used without compromising the quality of participation?

The Independent Institute for Environmental Issues (UfU) e.V. invites you to an online event on the digitalization of formal public participation with perspectives from science and practice.

The event marks the conclusion of a multi-year project funded by the UBA and BMUV, which was dedicated to the opportunities and limitations of digital participation instruments for formal public participation.

The event will discuss legal principles as well as concrete national and international examples and experience reports from digital public participation. The focus will be on the implementation of digital discussion meetings as video conferences. In addition, the practical guide developed as part of the project, which is intended to provide authorities with targeted support in organizing digital discussion meetings, will be presented during the event. This will be published online in February 2024.

The event is aimed at representatives from public authorities, academia and civil society.
