Make renewable energies visible!

In the projects Solar support: Making renewable energies visible! 1 and 2 From 2006 to 2014, the schools’ own solar systems were technically upgraded at around 800 educational institutions in order to enable or improve their educational use. Fortunately, another 400 school solar systems were upgraded in a follow-up project (running from 2011 to 2014). After the UfU was involved in the research project

“Solar support for schools” in the period from 2006 to 2008 on behalf of the BMU and together with the German Society for Solar Energy (DGS) and the Institute for Future Technologies (IZT) investigated how school solar systems can be used for educational purposes and how this use can be improved or made possible through technical or organizational support, the practical implementation of the results was accelerated following this research work. The follow-up projects “Making renewable energies visible! 1 and 2” were also carried out in collaboration with the partners already mentioned. The schools were equipped with a display panel for the yield data as well as a data logger for storing the data and a solar radiation and ambient temperature sensor. UfU developed teaching materials on the subject of solar energy for grades 4-6 and 7-10, which were then made available to all participating schools and other educational institutions. Network meetings in the form of nationwide regional conferences on the topic of “Renewable energies at educational institutions” were also part of the project.
