Educational trips with the solar research vessel on Lake Werbellin
With the solar-powered training ship “Solar Explorer”, the Kulturlandschaft Uckermark e.V. association has realized an extraordinary environmental education offer in the Schorfheide-Chorin UNESCO biosphere reserve. This floating training ship, which runs exclusively on solar power, offers educational trips for children and young people in particular, but also for adults. The 18-metre-long catamaran is used to explore issues relating to renewable energies and the aquatic habitat. In summer 2013, UfU tested the educational modules it had developed for grades 5 to 10. Anyone interested in taking part in a trip should send a short email to: info@solar-explorer.de. The ship is located in Altenhof, which is easy to reach by public transport.
