Participation forum - association network on legal environmental issues

Focus of the current event: Autumn package of the Federal Government, “Best Practices” of the participation of environmental associations in planning and approval procedures, SLAPPS – Strategic Lawsuits against Public Participation

The environmental policy year 2022 is characterized by numerous legislative amendments and acceleration packages, intensive debates on infrastructure projects and the scope of environmental legal protection. Even at the end of 2022, the innovations continue. We take a look back and keep you up to date with the latest national and international developments that may have an impact on the association’s work. In addition to GLI and UfU employees, Felicia Petersen from IDUR (Informationsdienst Umweltrecht e.V.) will speak and present the work of her association as well as two practical, municipal topics.

In the second block of our event, administrative lawyer Ingmari Mahnke from the State Office for Road Construction and Transport in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania will report on her experiences of cooperation between planning authorities and environmental associations from an official perspective. Afterwards, there will be room for meetings and discussions on the topic of participation opportunities.

Due to the great interest in “Strategic Lawsuits against Public Participation” (SLAPPs), this topic will be another focus of our winter event. In an interactive workshop, we would like to delve deeper into the topic and develop strategies for dealing with and defending ourselves.

The Participation Forum is organized every six months by the Independent Institute for Environmental Issues (UfU) and Green Legal Impact (GLI). The programme is aimed exclusively at representatives of recognized environmental and nature conservation associations. The winter event takes place online.
