User-related energy saving in the daycare centers of Pfefferwerk Stadtkultur gGmbH
The potential savings were identified in energy tours. In the subsequent team workshops, each daycare center drew up an individual catalog of measures. This included both behavioral aspects and technical options. All those involved were called upon to implement the measures, including the kitchen staff, the teaching staff, the building services department of the responsible body as well as parents and children. The janitors had a very special task. They were sensitized and qualified for their task in separate training sessions. They are the ones who have to be involved in implementing most of the measures. In the long term, energy savings are to be recorded via the quality management system. The topic has also been addressed in educational terms. In training courses for nursery school teachers, it was shown how exciting it is to explore the topic of energy together with the children. “Pfefferwerk Climate Protection Weeks” were successfully held in several daycare centers in February 2014 and 2015. These included building small water wheels, taking a walk through the neighborhood to see where electricity is available and visiting the supermarket to find out where fruit and vegetables actually come from.
