Invasive Neophytes in Protected Areas of Saxony-Anhalt Coordination Office at UfU e.V.
Since June 2010, UfU has been operating the Coordination Office for Invasive Neophytes in Protected Areas in Saxony-Anhalt (KORINA). KORINA’s work in Saxony-Anhalt was funded by the Saxony-Anhalt State Administration Office from 20.2.2017 – 31.12.2018 with funds from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development. This project focused on implementing the action program developed by KORINA to comprehensively manage neophytes. In the areas of prevention, early detection and control, the existing instruments were further developed and new ones designed. To this end, we have carried out public relations and educational work and maintained a network of stakeholders in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany and Europe. The Korina information system (website, app, web database, photo archive) was expanded and maintained. Invasive and potentially invasive neophytes were mapped, their occurrence assessed and their effects investigated. Measures against invasive neophytes were implemented, coordinated and documented.
