Virtual symposium on “Public participation in Germany – ten years after the events of Stuttgart 21” on March 4, 2021

UfU invites representatives from politics, administration, civil society, practice and science to the digital symposium “Public participation in Germany – ten years after the events of Stuttgart 21” to exchange information and ideas on the topic of formal and informal public participation in the infrastructure sector. Ten years after the events surrounding Stuttgart 21, the question of what has proved successful from all the approaches, legislative changes, concepts and contributions to the debate, structural developments and pilot projects for public participation in the construction of infrastructure projects will be examined under the changed framework conditions. A review of public participation in Germany should also be carried out. What progress has been made, what is stuck in the mills of bureaucracy and where is there no movement towards a better culture of participation?

The symposium on Stuttgart 21 is organized by the Independent Institute for Environmental Issues – UfU e.V. and sponsored by the Heidehof Stiftung GmbH (HHS).

The complete program can be found here.

Participation in the symposium is free of charge. Please register by March 3, 2021. You can reach your UfU contact at the following e-mail address: kathleen.pauleweit@ufu.de.
