Climate meets democracy
Presentation of our podcast on participation and climate policy
In view of the worsening ecological crises worldwide, increasing populism and the intensifying social conflicts surrounding the implementation of the socio-ecological transformation, the search for democratic solutions to contain the climate crisis is a central task.
In our new English-language podcast series “[Insert solutions here]. Climate meets Democracy”, we shed light on various approaches that actively tackle the climate crisis on the one hand and strengthen democratic principles on the other.
With guests from science and practice from different regions of the world, we look at a new topic in each episode. We discuss the current democratic challenges in the face of the climate crisis and look at the foundations of good participation in the development and implementation of climate policy. In further episodes, we address questions of justice and discuss the role of protests, trade unions, citizens’ assemblies, lobbying and international agreements.
We are delighted to welcome guests from Brazil, Indonesia, Germany, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Costa Rica, Ukraine, Belgium, Colombia, Austria and Mexico to our podcast to share their knowledge with us and provide exciting insights into different topics and contexts.
The podcast is produced by the Bund für Umwelt und Naturschutz Deutschland (BUND) and the Independent Institute for Environmental Issues (UfU e.V.) in the project “Strengthening civil society in the implementation of national climate policy”, which is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK) as part of the International Climate Initiative (IKI).
