Strengthening climate skills in vocational training

Final conference of the project KlimaKompetenzen in der beruflichen Bildung stärken

The final digital conference of the “Strengthening climate skills in vocational education and training” project will discuss how civic education for sustainable development can be designed in vocational education and training. The project results to date, existing resources and challenges will be presented, possible solutions differentiated according to target groups will be discussed, ways of structurally anchoring political education for sustainable development in vocational education and training will be discussed and space will be provided for networking between stakeholders from different areas.

Political ESD and social transformation in relation to one’s own working environment have so far been little addressed, particularly in the field of vocational education and training. However, the field of vocational education and training with its various specifics in the individual professions is particularly relevant for the success of a comprehensive transformation.

As part of the project funded by the Federal Agency for Civic Education (bpb), the previous events (expert workshop and dialog event) have already brought together many school and non-school stakeholders in vocational education for sustainable development (BBNE) and civic education. They exchanged views on the current state of science and practice and compiled wishes, needs and fears.

The concept paper developed at the end of the project should enable existing vocational education and training formats to be further developed in terms of integrating civic education and ESD, thereby helping to make vocational education and training fit for the future in terms of transformation.
