Daniel Buchholz has headed the Competence Centre for Climate-Neutral Schools at the Independent Institute for Environmental Issues (UfU) since the beginning of 2023. In this newly established cross-sectional area, UfU bundles its projects and activities on the topics of energy saving in schools, climate education, heat transition in non-residential buildings, education for sustainable development, energy transition roadmaps, moderation of change processes for climate neutrality and accompanying public relations work.
Daniel Buchholz holds a degree in industrial engineering and was a member of the Berlin House of Representatives from October 2001 to November 2021. As his parliamentary group’s spokesperson for urban development, the environment and climate protection, he has promoted these issues in parliament for many years. His signature can be found in various parliamentary motions and laws, including the Berlin Climate Protection Act, the Solar Act, the waste management concept and the Berlin Energy and Climate Protection Programme BEK 2030. He has won his constituency in the Berlin district of Spandau four times in a row.
During his industrial engineering studies at the Technical University of Berlin, Daniel Buchholz worked in Berlin industrial companies and as a journalist, including at KRONE AG, Volksblatt-Verlag, GONZO magazine, the news channel n-tv and Radio Fritz. After graduating from university, he completed a one-year programme as a corporate trainee at Deutsche Telekom AG with stations in Bonn, Saarbücken, Berlin and Freiburg. He then worked for more than 10 years at Deutsche Telekom and T-Systems AG as a senior project manager in the field of IT solutions for key accounts and system customers.
