Effective public participation in environmental matters is a key component of sound planning and permitting decisions and strengthens democratic participation. Digital tools can play a key role in simplifying formal participation procedures and making them more accessible. This can reduce conflict and speed up permitting decisions.
In this international webinar, we will highlight key aspects to consider when implementing effective digital participation portals for environmental matters, with a special focus on EIA portals—digital platforms for environmental impact assessments.
We are excited to showcase good practices for digital participation portals in environmental matters, with an in-depth exploration of the key functions and features that enable meaningful public engagement. Expert presentations will cover essential topics such as data protection, technical solutions, and the legal requirements of the Aarhus Convention. The event will conclude with a panel discussion featuring international experts, who will share their insights on the future of digital public participation.
We warmly invite all those involved in digital public participation—particularly NGOs, legal professionals, project developers, and representatives from environmental authorities—to join us for an engaging discussion. Members of the interested public are also encouraged to participate.
The webinar is also the closing event of UfU’s Aarhus Strong project.
